What should I specifically ask for when I get my haircut?

I know I want long layers and bangs(Im planning on side sweeping them later) Now my hair isnt all that long(if pulled reaches my elbow I guess. Im just nervous cause everytime I get a haircut Im never happy. Thanks! Im also dieing it a shade darker. Its light brown now.What should I specifically ask for when I get my haircut?

Tell her exactly what you want, and you could find a picture of what you want. Or, if you cant find a picture of everything you want, you can find a picture of someone with the bangs you want, another picture of the layers you want and another of the length. I just got my haircut today and I brought in a page full of pictures of the same haircut I wanted, it was just laid on the girl's head differently and shown at different angles. I hope you get what you want this time!
get it thinned a little, that'll help define the layers.


make sure you describe if you want edgy or smooth layers and how long you would like each layer to be.


tell the length you want your bangs to be and whether you want them cut to one side, let them know that you will be getting them side swept later.

well tell them exactly what you just said. but call it side bangs if you wanted to sweep them to the side. unless you meant you wanted regular bangs and then wanted to sweep them after they grow.
Imagine what you want in your head, and tell the hairdresser every detail you see.
